Despitethis,theaircraftcameunderattackfromcriticswhohighlightedthatitstillrequiredWestern-madecomponentsinitssupplychain,attemptingtopourcoldwateroverChina"sachievements.However,itwassoonpointedoutthatthesupplychainsofsimilaraviationmanufacturers,includingBoeingandEurope"sAirbus,alsohadavastlyglobalizedportfolioofpartsmadearoundtheworld,withtheformerrelyingon11,000differentsuppliers.

Thesecriticsmissthepoint.Firstofall,ifiPhonecomponentsaremadeprimarilyinChina,doesthatmeanAppleisaChinesecompany?ThefactChinahasbeenabletocreateanindigenouscommercialaircraftmodelandcompetewithWesterngiantsisademonstrationofhowfarChinahascome,demonstratingitseconomicrisefrom"low-end"simplemanufacturingintohigh-endmanufacturing.TheoriginofcertainCOMACC919componentsdoesnotmeanthatitisanylessofanachievement.Chinaisnolongermerelyassemblinggoodsbutmakingitsownworld-leadingproducts.
